What is Perro Callejero?

We're facing a crisis that goes beyond animal welfare — one that touches the very foundations of our values as a society. Animal abandonment and abuse reflect who we are and our capacity to live in harmony with every being on this planet.

It's in this context that PERRO CALLEJERO was born: an association dedicated to rescuing and supporting animals in situations of abandonment or vulnerability. Our commitment is to provide them with more than veterinary care — food, safe shelter, rehabilitation, and a responsible adoption process.

Our origin

Bulma's Story

Bulma and her puppies came to us from Santa Cruz, Guanacaste. Freshly given birth and with severe injuries to her mammary glands from being hit by a vehicle, Bulma taught us unconditional love; because despite her suffering, her unbreakable spirit and maternal instinct never let her abandon her puppies. This story reaches us as an urgent call to compassion. When we decided to rescue Bulma and her babies, we weren't just saving her life — she would become the pioneer of an adventure that would change the lives of the rescuers behind this initiative. And so, a group of strangers united by an unbreakable love for animals and a burning desire to make a difference became a collective force for change. Over the past few years, our mission has grown beyond anything we imagined. We have extended our hands and our hearts to more dogs and cats, each with a story of hardship and hope. Today we are Bulma's voice. We are the voice of every animal who has suffered abuse. We are a second chance. We are PERRO CALLEJERO.
